Yummy finds in Moraira, Spain
smoothies, juices, gluten free and more …
This week i’m lucky enough to be writing this from Moraira, Spain. It’s currently raining, but aside from that we’re having a wonderful time!
I’ve visited Moraira a few times, but it’s only this year that i’ve found myself trying to hunt out some nice little eateries to while away the mornings after a nice run and workout on the beachfront. And to my delight, so far we’ve found two!
The first one is called the New Bakery.
After a short walk down the hill from our gorgeous little villa, we stumbled across the New Bakery, selling gorgeous clothes, bags, jewellery and general lovely bits and bobs! They also serve a mean smoothie, and coffee! This is a gorgeous little cafe, a little way back from the beach but pretty enough and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. It’s got an air of Ibiza about it, with lots of white washed wood, and a beachy feel.
The shop itself houses some gorgeous bits and bobs and i’ve purchased a lovely kaftan that I cant wait to wear … if the rain stops! They also serve fresh baked loaves and baguettes so you can grab one whilst you’re there, ready for lunch.
After our smoothie, we headed down into town to run along the beachfront and complete our holiday exercise programme … more on that in the next blog!
We were now in desperate need of a little pick me up, so marched on to see what we could find, and to our sheer delight, a lovely shop owner directed us to Artesano, a delightful little juice bar and cafe.
Then menu looked fabulous, and we ordered two cold pressed juices … just what was needed after an hour sweating on the beach!
The juices were to die for, and even Effie had some! The rest of the menu looked too good to be true too, so we will be back in the week to sample some of the food i’m sure.
I was thrilled to see lots of gluten free, sugar free, vegan and dairy free options, like quinoa cake, courgette muffins, and banana bread.
I’m so pleased to have found these little gems and more than the food itself it pleases me that this sort of food is now available in a place like Moraira. 3 years ago when I last visited, neither of these cafes existed, and it’s so great to see that healthy cafes are now springing up in places that you wouldn’t expect. To leave the villa for a run and workout and know that I can grab a juice on my way back, pleases me beyond belief!
So if you’re in Spain, ask around for a cafe or juice bar, they are clearly springing up all over the place waiting for you to hunt them out!
